EPA is trying to destroy coal industry in Kentucky, says McConnell
McConnell, along with a handful of other Republicans, has introduced legislation that would force the EPA to act swiftly on approving or denying requests for permits for coal mining. In floor speeches, McConnell has alleged that the EPA intentionally sits on permit requests for long periods of time in order to reduce the amount of domestic coal mining.
“The Mining Jobs Protection Act will tell EPA that they need to act within a reasonable time frame and give permit applicants the certainty … the certainty they need to do business,” said McConnell on Wednesday about his bill.
