Reid: Republicans focused on ‘extreme social agenda’ while Americans worry about jobs
The Senate reconvened on Monday after a weeklong break and is expected to take up the Economic Development Administration (EDA) funding bill, which Democrats say will help create jobs.
In the floor speech, Reid blasted the 2012 budget plan that was crafted by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). The GOP budget would turn Medicare into a type of voucher system. Democrats claim it would end Medicare.
“That’s not good policy, that’s not even good politics,” Reid said.
Ryan’s budget was voted down in the Senate last month.
“The American people oppose that policy and so do the Democrats in Congress,” he said.
