McCaskill defends Twitter, calls Weiner a ‘twit’

“I don’t mean to sound flippant, but the problem was not with Twitter,” she said. “The problem was with the twit, who clearly has issues.”

Weiner resigned from Congress on Thursday as a result of a scandal in which he was caught using Twitter to send salacious photos of himself to some women followers.

McCaskill noted that her own congressional Twitter account is one important way constituents can contact her directly, without having to go through staff.

“It’s great not to be edited by anyone, for it not to go through some review process,” she said to a local CBS affiliate.

According to the website article, McCaskill added that Weiner has “serious personal problems.”
