Reid schedules vote on Petraeus confirmation
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), on Wednesday night, scheduled debate and a vote on the confirmation of Gen. David Petraeus to be the next director of the CIA.
{mosads}“In the last 50 years he is the most noted soldier we have had in the U.S. military,” said Reid from the floor. “This man could retire and go off into the business community and make millions and millions of dollars. This man has a Ph.D. from Princeton, he is a highly decorated member of the army, but he is walking away from that money …because he thinks he owes his country more public service.”
Petraeus is currently serving as the top commander of coalition forces in Afghanistan.
The Senate adjourned at 7:57 p.m. and is set to return on Thursday at 9 a.m.
