Obama’s stimulus a ‘national punch line’ says minority leader

“The president passed over what could have been a job creating, bipartisan lay-up,” said McConnell, reffering to Free Trade Agreements with Columbia, Panama and Korea that most experts agree would create and save Amercican jobs. “[Instead he] devoted the first weeks of his presidency to a highly partisan stimulus that has since become a national punch line.”

McConnell went on to deride the 2009 stimulus, which hardly any Republicans supported.

“Two and a half years after the stimulus was signed into law, there are 1.7 million fewer jobs in America,” continued McConnell. “And the President is just this week getting around to free trade agreements we knew would create jobs.”
