Coburn to be absent for weeks to recover from prostate cancer surgery

Coburn’s spokesman, John Hart, confirmed to The Hill Tuesday afternoon that the junior senator from Oklahoma had undergone successful surgery that would likely keep him from the Senate for the near future.

“Dr. Coburn underwent a procedure this week to treat an early stage incidence of prostate cancer,” Hart said in a statement. “He is expected to make a full recovery and return to his full-time duties later this month.”
