McConnell: Obama ‘out there doing his best Howard Dean impersonation’

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (D-Ky.) on Tuesday derided President Obama’s job-themed bus tour and said the president has been impersonating Howard Dean in calling for higher taxes.

“Think about that,” exclaimed McConnell from the Senate floor. “We have 14 million people out of work … and the president is out there doing his best Howard Dean impersonation.”

{mosads}Dean, a former governor of Vermont, ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004 on an anti-war platform. He was backed strongly by the left.  

McConnell mocked the president’s taxpayer-funded bus tour through several geographic regions thought to be critical to his 2012 reelection campaign.

“It’s completely preposterous when so many Americans are looking for a job for the president to be riding around on a bus saying we should raise taxes on the very folks who create jobs,” said McConnell. “Completely preposterous.”

“Let’s park the campaign bus, put away the talking points and do something about the jobs crisis,” he concluded.
