Friday: Nominations
The Senate reached a deal late Thursday to allow for the confirmation of three of President Obama’s executive and judicial nominees before leaving for the Christmas holiday.
Reid had originally filed cloture on 10 nominations, but Republicans were forcing Democrats to take as much time as possible working through nominations as a protest to the change in filibuster rules.
{mosads}The deal averted an all-night session Friday morning and weekend work.
The Senate will vote to end debate on Janet Yellen as the new head of the Federal Reserve, but her final confirmation won’t happen until the Senate returns on Jan. 6.
Here is a list of the nominees expected to be confirmed Friday:
— Alejandro Mayorkas to be deputy secretary of Homeland Security
— John Koskinen to be commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service
— Brian Davis to be U.S. district judge for the Middle District of Florida
