McConnell: Obama is trying to protect fish from water

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Tuesday that President Obama and environmental activists within his administration are now trying to protect fish from water.

{mosads}McConnell was talking about a recent report prohibiting Kentucky from increasing the amount of water in Lake Cumberland because it could have an adverse effect on the Dusty Tail Dart minnows, which are on the endangered species list.

“The radical environmentalists in this administration want to protect this fish from too much water,” McConnell said on the Senate floor. “What’s next, protecting birds from too much sky?”

McConnell questioned the administration’s justifications for halting the water project, saying, “anything in the universe could have an adverse effect on this minnow.”

McConnell also said this was just one more example of the administration’s “radical environmental agenda” harming Kentuckians.
