McConnell: Obama has ‘eroded’ US credibility
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Wednesday that President Obama’s lack of leadership has “eroded” America’s credibility globally, making it more difficult for the United States to help Ukraine.
“This president has eroded American credibility in the world,” McConnell said on the Senate floor. “We can now put to rest for good any notion that the relationship with Russia has been reset.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent Russian troops into Ukraine after the Russian-backed leader was ousted through an election. Lawmakers have called for sanctions against Russia to force Putin to withdraw his troops.
McConnell said the West should stand united against Putin’s actions.
“The foundation of the international system is governed by force, capability and interest,” McConnell said. “That’s the reality we should be guided by in approaching this conflict.”
The administration has pledged $1 billion in loans and aid to Ukraine to help its democracy. The House is expected to pass that measure in the coming weeks.
