Senate confirms SBA nominee
The Senate confirmed President Obama’s nominee to lead the Small Business Administration (SBA) by voice vote Thursday.
{mosads}Maria Contreras-Sweet will replace Karen Mills as the administration’s leader.
The SBA provides loans and advice to small businesses across the country.
“Small businesses create two out of three jobs in this country,” Senate Small Business Committee Chairwoman Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) said. “To have someone like Maria Contreras-Sweet is critical for us.”
Contreras-Sweet was a community banker in California before being nominated for the post.
