Thune: Obama’s victory lap on O-Care is an ‘insult’

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) called President Obama’s announcement that 8 million people have enrolled in ObamaCare a “victory lap” that was an “insult” to those who lost the coverage they had before the law was enacted.

{mosads}“The president’s latest ObamaCare ‘victory’ lap is an insult to the millions of Americans who lost the coverage they were promised they could keep, who lost access to the doctors they had and liked, and who are now facing higher premiums and deductibles,” Thune said Thursday.

On Thursday, Obama said Democrats should “be proud” that 8 million people have enrolled in the healthcare exchanges, exceeding the administration’s initial goal.

He chided Republicans for doubting the law would work.

“They said nobody would sign up. They were wrong about that. They said it would be unaffordable for the country. They were wrong about that,” Obama said.

Thune has been an ardent critic of the Affordable Care Act, also known as ObamaCare, saying it harms the economy and has forced people to buy plans that were more expensive than the coverage they previously had.
