Wednesday: Senate to clear several nominations
The Senate starts at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and nearly two hours later will begin a series of five votes on President Obama’s judicial and executive nominations.
{mosads}At 11:15 a.m., the Senate will vote to end debate on the nomination of three people to serve as U.S. district judges for Arizona — Steven Logan,
John Tuchi and Diane Humetewa. If cloture is invoked on the nominees, their final confirmation vote will occur at 5:15 p.m.
After the three cloture votes and before final confirmation, the Senate will also vote to confirm Roy Williams to be assistant secretary of Commerce and Economic Development and Carlos Moreno to be U.S. ambassador of Belize. Those nominees are expected to be confirmed by voice-vote.
Later in the day the Senate will also adopt the motion to proceed to H.R. 3473, which is being used as a vehicle for the tax extenders package. On Tuesday, the Senate voted 96-3 to end debate on the motion to proceed.
