Congress clears short-term FAA funding

The Senate’s unanimous consent passage of the FAA bill means the legislation now goes the White House for a signature.

The Senate also cleared H.R. 3801, the Ultra light Aircraft Smuggling Prevention Act of 2012, a bill pushed by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) that ratchets up penalties for drug smuggling via gliders, and S. 2039, which allows the construction of levies on some public lands.

Before adjourning the Senate at around 5 p.m., Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) also filed cloture on the Disclose Act (S. 2038). The cloture vote on that legislation, designed to prevent federal lawmakers and their staffs from engaging in insider trading, is set for 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Senate will reconvene at 2 p.m. on Monday.
