Senate confirms HHS assistant secretary
The Senate confirmed Richard Frank to be an assistant secretary in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
{mosads}Frank was confirmed by voice vote as part of a unanimous consent agreement reached Thursday.
He will likely serve under President Obama’s nominee to replace outgoing HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
The Senate is expected to confirm Sylvia Burwell next month to be the new head of that department.
On Wednesday, the Senate Finance Committee voted 21-3 to advance Burwell’s nomination.
