Senate confirms DHS immigration nominee
The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the nomination of Leon Rodriguez to be director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Senators voted 52-43 to confirm his nomination. Just over four hours earlier, the Senate invoked cloture on his nomination by a vote of 52-44.
{mosads}U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, an agency within the Department of Homeland Security, processes asylum and refugee applications as well as naturalization and visa petitions.
Rodriguez currently serves as the director of the Office for Civil Rights in the Department of Health and Human Services.
