Reid: House lawsuit ‘nothing more than kicking dirt’

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) compared Republican House Leader’s vote to sue President Obama to a baseball manager kicking dirt at the umpire.

“House Republicans are trying a similar tactic by threatening to bring suit against the President of the United States … to keep the radicals within their own party happy, while diverting the American people’s attention away from their own inaction,” Reid said on the Senate floor Wednesday. “It’s nothing more than kicking dirt on an umpire.”

{mosads}Reid, an avid baseball fan, said most baseball managers try to get kicked out of the game in order to “divert attention” away from the team that’s losing.

Later this week, the House is expected to vote to sue President Obama for his executive actions, saying he’s gone too far and doesn’t follow laws passed by Congress.

“They’re going to have a lawsuit and they’re going to kick around a little dirt,” Reid said. “Leave the chest-bumping and dirt-kicking charade to baseball managers.”

Reid said that Republicans should instead look at themselves rather than constantly blaming Obama on issues such as immigration reform.

The Senate passed a bipartisan immigration reform bill last year but Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has said he will not allow a House vote.
