Cruz: Obama’s ‘misguided’ foreign policy threatens US, Israel

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Tuesday that President Obama’s foreign policies have undermined U.S. and Israeli security.

Cruz said Obama should be taking a tougher stance on protecting Israel against Hamas’ latest round of rocket strikes. Despite peace negotiations violence has recently escalated. The White House has called for a ceasefire.

{mosads}“Israel did not want this conflict,” Cruz said. “The United States — with or without the president — will continue to stand with Israel.”

Cruz cited the killings of three Israeli teens — one of which was also a U.S. citizen.

“It was a terrorist atrocity, coldly plotted and executed by vicious killers,” Cruz said. “Kidnapping and murdering a U.S. citizen is an attack on us as well and we will actively support Israel’s response.”

Cruz has introduced a bill, S. 2577, which would allow the Secretary of State to award $5 million for the capture or killing of those responsible for the murder of Naftali Fraenkel.

Cruz said the U.S. should also stop negotiating with Iran to end its nuclear weapons program because Iran is sponsoring some of the terrorist attacks against Israel. He said he would soon introduce a bill that would immediately reinstate sanctions against Iran.

Cruz is considered a possible Republican presidential candidate in 2016.
