Senate passes bill to award $5M for info on murdered Israeli teen

The Senate passed a bill Tuesday that would offer a $5 million reward for information on who killed three Israeli teens.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) introduced S. 2577, which directs the Secretary of State to offer rewards of up to $5 million for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for the kidnapping and killing of Naftali Fraenkel, a Jewish teen with duel citizenship in the United States and Israel.

{mosads}The bodies of Fraenkel and two of his friends were found dead. The Israeli government blames Hamas terrorists.

Cruz’s bill passed by unanimous consent. The bill now heads to the House for further action.

The Senate also passed H.R. 4028 through unanimous consent. That measure amends the International Religious Freedom Act to include the desecration of cemeteries among the forms of violations of the right to religious freedom.

The House passed H.R. 4028 in May, meaning the bill now heads to President Obama’s desk for his signature.
