Reid: Senate approaching finish line on highway bill
“We need to push this bill to the finish line and I think the finish line is now in sight,” said Reid.
Reid announced on Wednesday night he would grant Republicans votes on a number of their non-germane amendments he had blocked since early last month. Those votes could begin as soon as 2:15 p.m. on Thursday.
The majority leader, however, went on to level a now familiar attack on his Senate Republican colleagues, blaming them for the month-long impasse.
“Not everything we do this year should be a big fight,” he said. “Republican leaders have wasted weeks of the Senate’s time trying to obstruct this important jobs bill … weeks were wasted.”
