Senate soon to take up GOP jobs bill, says Reid
“Last week the House passed its jobs bill… it’s not
going to create a lot of jobs but its important legislation,” said Reid.
“[C]learly it needs to be brought before the Senate as soon as we
can.”
Reid was responding to an attempt spearheaded by Sen. Jon
Kyl (R-Ariz.) to set aside all pending work and take up legislation, H.R.
3606, without delay. Reid object to the request before pledging to bring the
bill to the floor later this session.
Before adjourning the upper chamber just after 7 p.m. Monday, Reid also pushed through by unanimous consent a resolution declaring 2012 the
“year of the girl” and congratulating the Girl Scouts on their 100th
birthday.
“Every year is the year of the girl,” remarked the
majority leader. “[I] got so excited.”
The Senate is set to reconvene at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
