Rep. West says he would pray about accepting VP nomination ‘if asked’

“You know I will always serve my country,” West said. “If someone will make that call to me, I’ll pray about it, talk it over with the family, and then we’ll step up to do our best.”

West then reaffirmed that he would consider running “if asked.”

{mosads}West was responding to a question about former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R) provisional endorsement of him for the spot earlier this month.

“You know who I’d like to see considered for the VP slot is Colonel Allen West,” Palin said on Fox News. “In this very tumultuous time across our world, someone who has served in our military or at least has intimate knowledge of the way the military works and should work, perhaps by having a close family member serve, someone like that.”

West is not the only freshman lawmaker from the swing state of Florida whose name is being is being tossed around for the position. Sen. Marco Rubio (R) had also made it onto some short lists, although he has claimed repeatedly that he is not interested in leaving the Senate.
