Senate confirms US ambassador nominees
The Senate confirmed the nominations of several U.S. ambassadors on Wednesday.
Senate Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) has slammed Republicans for holding ambassadorships up until there is an international crisis.
{mosads}John Bass was confirmed to be U.S. ambassador to Turkey on a 98-0 vote.
The Senate also confirmed two other ambassadors by voice-vote and four other executive nominations. A list follows:
– Eric Schultz to be U.S. ambassador to Zambia.
– Thomas Daughton to be U.S. ambassador to Namibia.
– David Pressman to be alternate U.S. representative for Special Political Affairs in the United Nations and to the General Assembly of the United Nations.
– Debra Wada to be an assistant secretary of the Army.
– Laura Wertheimer to be inspector general of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
– Bradford Huther to be chief financial officer at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
