Thune: Senate Democrats are in ‘disarray’
Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) said infighting among Democrats after the devastating election has affected the Senate agenda.
“Senate Democrats here after this election seem to be in disarray,” Thune said on the Senate floor Tuesday.
{mosads}Thune used the examples of President Obama torpedoing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) tax extenders deal and the third ranking Senate Democrat, Charles Schumer (N.Y.) for saying ObamaCare was a “mistake.”
Last week, Reid was set to introduce a tax deal that extended breaks for corporations but not middle-class families. Obama issued a veto threat, killing that deal. Some speculated that it had to do with bickering over who was to blame for the shellacking Senate Democrats took in the midterm elections.
Schumer also made a speech last week, where he said it was a mistake for Democrats to pass the healthcare law after taking control of both chambers in 2009.
“That is quite the admission from the third ranking Democrat in the Senate,” Thune said.
Thune vowed things would be different once Republicans take control of the upper chamber next year.
