Senate broadens protections on whistleblowers

{mosads}The bill, in its amended form, “expands the scope of whistleblower protections under federal law.” The legislation also adds two offices to a list of exemptions from the legislation: the Director of National Intelligence and the National Reconnaissance Office. Those offices are added to a list included in the Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989.

The protections in the amended bill also apply to the Transportation Security Administration and parts in the intelligence community.

Additionally, the legislation specifically protects whisteblowers from the “the revocation of a security clearance or access determination in retaliation for a protected whistleblower disclosure.”

The Senate also passed S. Res. 447, a resolution congratulating “students, parents, teachers, and administrators of charter schools across the United States” for National Schools Charter Week.
