Senate cancels Monday votes
Senate votes scheduled for Monday evening have been scrapped due to inclement weather preventing some senators from arriving in Washington.
The Senate was slated to convene at 4 p.m. and vote at 5:30 p.m. to pass a bill creating programs to prevent veterans’ suicides. That vote has instead been rescheduled for Tuesday at noon.
{mosads}A spokesman for House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said House votes at 6:30 p.m. Monday night are still planned.
Monday’s postponed votes are a reversal from last week, when a snowstorm hit Washington. The House canceled votes, but the Senate still went forward with its votes as scheduled.
No snow or ice is currently falling on Washington, but a winter storm has been moving across the Midwest and Northeast.
