Wednesday: Budget, estate tax
The Senate is expected to move forward on the budget Wednesday.
Senators are expected to vote Wednesday morning on a motion to go to conference with House lawmakers, where they will try to merge their budgets.
{mosads}Senators will convene at 9:30 a.m. for leader remarks and morning business. A roll call vote on the motion to go to conference is expected around 11:45 a.m. A vote on naming conferees to the budget conference committee is expected late Wednesday afternoon.
The Senate will also recess from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. for a bipartisan luncheon, and have a moment of silence at 2:49 p.m. for victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings.
Meanwhile, the House is expected to convene at 10 a.m. for morning hour and noon for legislative business.
They’re expected to begin debate Wednesday on a bill to repeal the estate tax, sometimes referred to by opponents as the “death tax.”
Votes are expected between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
