Reid says GOP refused up-or-down tax votes
The Democrats’ Middle Class Tax Cut Act, S. 3412, would extend the Bush-era tax rates for one year for families with annual income up to $250,000.
{mosads}“Republicans claim to share Democrats’ commitment to keeping taxes low for the middle class,” Reid said. “If that’s true then it’s strange that they keep us from voting on cutting taxes for those making less than $250,000 a year.”
The Republican plan would extend the Bush tax rates for all income levels.
Unless an agreement is reached sooner, the Senate will hold a vote on whether to proceed to Reid’s bill, S. 3412, on Wednesday.
Reid indicated that the Cyber Security Act is likely to be the next legislative push for the body.
“Failing to act on cyber security legislation not only puts out national security at risk, it recklessly endangers members of out armed forces and missions around the world,” Reid said. If we’re serious about protecting our troops, we must protect them against cyber attacks.”
