Thursday: Lynch, cyber
The Senate will vote Thursday on Loretta Lynch’s long-delayed attorney general nomination.
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said in mid-March that the Senate would take up Lynch’s nomination. But lawmakers got bogged down in a fight over abortion restrictions in a bill to curb human trafficking.
{mosads}McConnell refused to let lawmakers leap over the trafficking bill, which passed the Senate on Wednesday clearing the way for a vote on Lynch’s nomination.
A procedural vote on Lynch is expected around 11:30 a.m. If her nomination overcomes that procedural hurdle, a final confirmation vote is expected around 2 p.m.
Meanwhile, House lawmakers are expected to take up a cyber security proposal, the National Cybersecurity Protection Advancement Act, on Thursday.
Votes in the House are expected between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.
