Wednesday: Abe, VA
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will speak before a joint meeting of Congress Wednesday.
The Senate will convene at 9:30 a.m., for leader remarks and morning business. The Senate is expected to recess at 10:30 a.m. so senators can gather to go over to the House chamber to listen to Abe’s address.
{mosads}After the speech, senators will resume debate on legislation that would allow lawmakers to weigh in on any final Iran deal. The Senate blocked a Republican push early Tuesday evening to consider the Iran deal as a treaty.
Meanwhile, House lawmakers are expected to take up two appropriations bills Wednesday: the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act and the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.
First votes in the House are expected between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
