Thursday: Iran, budget
Senators will continue Thursday working through legislation that would allow them to weigh in on a final deal on Iran’s nuclear program.
Roughly two dozen Republicans have submitted approximately 60 amendments to the legislation, spearheaded by Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), that would give lawmakers 30 days to pass a resolution of disapproval on a final deal negotiated by the president and other nations.
{mosads}Votes on amendments aren’t currently scheduled for Thursday, but more amendment votes are expected before a final vote on the legislation next week.
Meanwhile, House lawmakers are expected to take up a budget conference report on Thursday.
Republicans on Wednesday unveiled the joint House-Senate budget, which includes a push to unravel ObamaCare and would balance the budget within 10 years.
House lawmakers are also expected to vote on the chamber’s first fiscal 2016 appropriations bill, which provides funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs and military construction projects.
The vote was originally expected to occur Wednesday, but was pushed back.
