Wednesday: ObamaCare, ISIS
The House will take up a package of healthcare reform bills on Wednesday ahead of a Supreme Court decision on federal tax subsides under ObamaCare.
House lawmakers are expected to work on measures including a repeal of the medical device tax, eliminating the Independent Payment Advisory Board, and preventing the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services from terminating Medicare Advantage contracts that do not have minimum quality ratings.
{mosads}The House will also vote on a resolution, from Rep. Jim McGovern’s (D-Mass.) that would force President Obama to remove the U.S. military personnel currently part of the operations against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) within 30 days.
President Obama could extend that deadline to Dec. 31 if he determined it wasn’t safe to remove U.S. forces within the 30-day timeframe.
Votes in the House are expected between 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Senate is expected to continue work on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), with senators expecting to wrap up work this week.
The Senate voted on Tuesday to end debate on the annual defense policy bill, with only 15 senators voting against moving forward.
