Monday: TSA, transportation nominations

The Senate is expected to vote on two nominations Monday.

Senators will convene at 3 p.m. for leadership remarks and morning business, with votes around 5:30 p.m. on Peter Neffenger’s nomination to take over the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Daniel Elliott III’s nomination to be a member of the Surface Transportation Board.

{mosads}Neffenger’s nomination comes as the agency is under the congressional spotlight in the wake of a report that found that TSA agents failed to find fake bombs and weapons in internal tests at nearly all of America’s busiest airports.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) last week set up the Senate to restart work on a fast-track trade bill, with a procedural vote expected on Tuesday unless senators reach a deal to speed up the vote.

 The House isn’t in session.
