Graham: Dems ‘own’ Iran deal
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) suggested on Thursday that Senate Democrats will be held responsible for the Iran nuclear deal and any potential fallout from the agreement.
“To my Democratic friends, you own this. You own every ‘i’ and every ‘t,’ ” he said. “Every bullet and you own everything that is to follow, and it’s going to be holy hell.”
{mosads}Graham, a GOP presidential candidate whose campaign has failed to gain traction, has been a vocal critic of the Iran nuclear deal. His competitors for the Republican presidential nomination have vowed to kill the agreement if they win the White House.
His remarks come ahead of a procedural vote in the Senate on a resolution of disapproval on the Iran nuclear agreement. President Obama will need 41 of the 42 supporters of the deal in the Senate to vote no on cloture to block the resolution from moving forward in the Senate.
Graham slammed Democrats for the potential filibuster, suggesting they are trying to block “an attempt to have a debate, an up-or-down vote on the most consequential foreign policy decision in modern history.”
GOP senators are united against the Iran nuclear deal, with the South Carolina Republican stressing the security of Israel in the wake of the deal, calling Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei “crazy” and “a religious Nazi.”
“If I hear one more comment from my Democratic friends about how much they love Israel —
with friends like this, you don’t need an enemy,” he said. “[Khamenei] doesn’t want you confused as you vote as to what he wants to do to your friend Israel. You obviously are writing him off.”
