Judiciary Committee examines comprehensive immigration reform next week

Earlier in the week the bipartisan Gang of Eight members are expected to release their comprehensive immigration reform package. It was delayed because of the gun control debate, which will also spill over into next week.

{mosads}The bipartisan plan is expected to create a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the country, toughen border security, create a guest worker program and boost high-skilled immigration.

On Thursday morning, former Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), now secretary of State, will testify before the committee he once chaired — the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee. Kerry will speak about the administration’s budget priorities for international affairs.
