Reid warns Clinton: Don’t get ‘overconfident’ before debate

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is offering some advice to Hillary Clinton ahead of the second presidential debate of 2016: Don’t get too cocky.

“I’ve told all the Clinton people don’t be overconfident,” he told reporters, adding that he doesn’t fixate on “where you are and what you did last time.”

{mosads}Clinton — who received a boost in the polls after the first debate — will face Donald Trump again on Sunday in St. Louis. She currently leads the Republican presidential nominee by less than 4 points nationally, according to a RealClearPolitics polling average.

Republican lawmakers gave Trump a bad review after his face-off with Clinton, arguing he held back, seemed easily flustered and missed an opportunity to bring up the Democratic nominee’s use of a private email server while secretary of State.

Reid took a swing at Trump’s performance on Thursday. Noting that the GOP nominee was in Nevada on Wednesday, he added, “I’m sure Donald is now on his way someplace else, doing anything besides preparing for the debate.”

Trump’s campaign has argued he will be prepared, and the businessman added a town hall event to his schedule for Thursday.

Kellyanne Conway, his campaign manager, told MSNBC on Wednesday that he’s “very excited” about the event’s town hall format, which she called a “sweet spot” for Trump.
