Reid: GOP doesn’t want public to see ‘how crazy their budget priorities are’
{mosads}Reid said that GOP leaders in the Senate are objecting to a budget conference in order to “cover for their dysfunctional House colleagues” at the risk of another government default.
Senate Democrats have asked for agreement to form a conference committee 13 times, so the House and Senate could work out the significant differences in their budgets. But a GOP senator has objected every time.
Reid said Republicans don’t want to go to conference because they don’t want the public to see “how crazy their budget priorities are.” He said Democrats are proud of their budget because it protects their priorities.
Reid added that he hopes Republicans would stop “bowing to Tea Party pressure” and compromise with Democrats rather than use “political brinksmanship.”
