The proposal is seen as having of chance of being added to the bill, S. 744, and thus making the bill more of a bipartisan plan that has legs in the House. Corker said Thursday that adoption of his amendment would mean the border is finally secure, something Republicans have demanded as a condition of any immigration bill.

The Senate stayed in late Thursday night to wait for the amendment, but finally adjourned in the hopes it could be produced on Friday.
The House is out today, and returns next week to work on two offshore energy bills and an agriculture spending bill for 2014.
