Thursday: Finishing immigration (maybe)

Immediately after, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will dispose of all remaining amendments to the immigration bill. Then, the Senate will vote on the adoption of the substitute amendment to the bill.

After that, the Senate will vote on a motion to end debate on the bill as amended.

{mosads}That starts a 30-hour clock, after which the Senate can vote on final passage. But the clock will start from 7 a.m. Thursday, and it seems likely that senators will agree to yield back most of the 30 hours, allowing a vote on final passage of the bill in the early afternoon.

The House will start work in the afternoon on H.R. 1613, a bill implementing a U.S.-Mexico agreement that will allow for energy exploration on the maritime border of the two countries. The concept is fine with both parties, but House Republicans added language saying U.S. companies have to disclose payments made to Mexico related to offshore energy exploration.

The House will also start work on H.R. 2231, a bill requiring expanded offshore lease sales for exploration off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. The rule for the bill, which was passed Wednesday, makes 11 amendments in order for this bill.

Members will also vote to pass H.R. 1864, a bill aimed at increasing the reporting of sexual assault in the military. The House debated this bill Wednesday.
