Reid praises Obama, recognizes the ‘burdens’ he bears
Reid and Obama spoke after the Senate reached a deal to vote on executive nominees and avoid changes to the Senate rules.
{mosads}Reid said he didn’t think you could find a Republican in the Senate that didn’t “admire” Obama.
Obama served in the Senate before becoming president.
“We’ve seen him, as we have all presidents, change before our eyes,” Reid said. “This vibrant young man who served here in the Senate with us with cool black hair, now after a few years, he has hair like Sen. [Carl] Levin [D-Mich.] and I.”
Reid said the burdens senators have are minimal compared to Obama’s.
“The burdens we have as U.S. senators are so minimal compared to the burdens of the President of the United States,” Reid said. “Every day, he gets up for a briefing about what’s going on around the world, and there are so many things going on that are so difficult for him, for us as a country and for the world.”
