Pence lays out Trump’s agenda

Vice President-elect Mike Pence detailed the top priorities of the incoming Trump administration, stressing that ObamaCare repeal is at the top of the list.

Pence told reporters after a closed-door meeting with Senate Republicans that he and President-elect Donald Trump are working closely on their “first priority” of repealing the Affordable Care Act.

“The American people voted for change in November,” he told reporters at weekly press conference normally reserved for Senate leadership. “We working very closely with the Senate leadership on a budget resolution.”

Under a resolution filed this week, four congressional committees have until Jan. 27 to hand over their repeal proposals.

Pence — who has deep ties to Capitol Hill — also outlined a laundry list of other early Trump proposals, including infrastructure, tax reform and border security.

“We’ll be looking for opportunity before we get to the spring to pass the tax relief that the president advocated for,” he said.

Pence met privately with House and Senate Republicans on Wednesday ahead of a fight over repealing the Affordable Care Act.

He also met with Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y), the new Senate minority leader.
