Reid: ObamaCare resistance ‘futile’

Reid’s comments came moments after the House voted 230-189 for legislation that would keep the government running through mid-December, while also defunding the president’s signature healthcare law.

{mosads}Passage of the bill sets up a showdown with the Senate, and moves the two sides closer to a possible government shutdown on Oct. 1, when the new fiscal year starts.

“The Affordable Care Act has been the law of the land for three years,” Reid said. “Democrats stand ready to work with reasonable people who want to improve it, but Republican attempts to take an entire law hostage simply to appease the Tea Party anarchists are outrageous, irresponsible and futile.”

Reid is expected to remove the ObamaCare language from the bill in the Senate, setting up critical maneuvering next week.
