First lady dishes on White House life, touts higher education

Michelle Obama opened up about her private life at the White House, revealing President Obama is a fan of singing in the bathroom, she believes she’s a better dancer than him, and she’s unsure what her plan will be in 2016.

In a wide-ranging interview that aired Tuesday on BET’s “106 and Park,” the first lady disclosed Obama’s affinity for carrying a tune in the restroom. “He sings all the time. Oh yes, he’s in the bathroom all the time just singing. He is always willing to sing.”

Obama, donning a black, leather-style jacket and gray pants, told hosts Bow Wow and Keshia Chante that her spouse “has got a good voice.”

{mosads}In the sit-down taped Monday in New York, which focused largely on college education, Obama said she was hyper-focused on going to college as a high school student growing up in Chicago. As student class treasurer, Obama said, “I wasn’t doing too much partying in high school.”

“I was probably a little more dull than people might imagine in high school,” she admitted.

Daughters Sasha, 12, and Malia, 15, have “way more fun” than she ever did, Obama exclaimed, “I mean, my kids go to parties. They hang out.”

The 49-year-old Princeton grad touted Obama’s “North Star” goal, an initiative to ensure the United States has the most educated population in the world by 2020.

The White House resident also noted she’s “still discovering who I want to be,” saying, “I don’t know what I’m going to do when I leave the White House. So I tell young people, you are always reinventing yourself.”

Responding to a question about her biggest fashion regret from a student in the music video show’s audience, Obama replied that she’s “kind of always happy with what I’m wearing.” But she then said, “Sometimes I forget I’m the first lady, and I’m running around in shorts. I know the first time we went on a family vacation, I had shorts on getting off of Air Force One and that created a huge stink because people were like, ‘She’s wearing shorts getting off of Air Force One.’ And I thought, ‘what, we’re on vacation.’ ”

When asked who’s the better dancer in the first family between her and the commander in chief, Obama answered without missing a beat, “Me. Without a doubt.  Without a doubt.  He can sing. I can dance. I think that divides the talent evenly across the family tree. We’re all satisfied.”
