White House embraces ‘Scandal’
There was scandal in the West Wing on Friday — but top White House officials were all too happy to brag about it.
{mosads}The cast of ABC’s hit series “Scandal” visited with Obama staffers ahead of Saturday’s White House correspondents dinner, posing for photographs and receiving a tour of the real-life presidential offices.
Tony Goldwyn, who plays President Fitzgerald Grant on the show, stepped out into the briefing room to pose at the podium with real-life press secretary Jay Carney.
Other cast members, including Guillermo Díaz (tortured former government assassin Huck), Jeff Perry (chief of staff Cyrus Beene), Dan Bucatinsky SPOILER ALERT: (press secretary James Novak, before he met an untimely end), and Katie Lowes (fixer-turned-government assassin Quinn Perkins) snapped a shot with presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett, who dubbed them “all gladiators” in a reference to the show’s team of professional fixers who work for Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), the show’s heroine, who also happens to be the president’s mistress.
The actors appeared with staffers from Cosmopolitan magazine. Earlier Friday, Cosmo Editor-in-Chief Joanna Coles co-hosted a breakfast with Politico White House correspondent Mike Allen to discuss the series and real-life work at the White House.
