‘Kid President’ to be WHCA guest

YouTube sensation Robby Novak, better known as “Kid President,” toured the Capitol on Friday before heading off for White House Correspondents Association Dinner-related festivities.

Novak, age 10, became a minor phenomenon starting in 2012 with a series of videos starring himself as “Kid President,” a suit-wearing character who dispenses pep talks and urges people to make the world “more awesome.”

Novak toured the Capitol and then visited the office of fellow Tennessean Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), who spoke with him by phone and left a handwritten note for the child chief executive, telling him “We’ve got some more work to do. There’s still lots of problems to solve — and you’re the guy to do it. Let’s keep bringing people together!” 

“Our office was proud to welcome Robby, a fellow Tennessean, to Capitol Hill,” Corker said in a statement. “His focus on making the world a better place has inspired children and adults all across the country, and candidly, Washington could learn a thing or two from Robby about bringing people together. I thank him for the example he is setting and wish him all the best in the future.”

Novak will be a guest at the Google-Netflix White House Correspondents’ Party, alongside the casts of the hit Netflix programs “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black.”

Novak has already been to Washington once before, meeting President Obama in 2013, when he was welcomed into the Oval Office.
