If Hillary Clinton had her way, the title of her upcoming memoir, Hard Choices, might have been The Scrunchie Chronicles.
The former secretary of State says she “considered a number of titles” before settling on Hard Choices.
{mosads}In a sneak peek in People magazine of the book’s Author’s Note, Clinton writes of suggestions for the title that were sent in by a newspaper’s readers.
“One proposed ‘It Takes a World,’ a fitting sequel to [my previous book,] ‘It Takes a Village,’ ” the potential 2016 candidate writes. But, says the hair accessory-loving former senator, “My favorite was ‘The Scrunchie Chronicles: 112 Countries and It’s Still All about My Hair.'”
But an ode to the scrunchie didn’t make the final cut for the book’s cover. Clinton, 66, writes, “In the end, the title that best captured my experiences on the high wire of international diplomacy and my thoughts and feelings about what it will take to secure American leadership for the 21st century was ‘Hard Choices.’ “
People scored the first interview with Clinton about her book, as well as her first at-home interview since leaving government last year, for its June 6 issue.
Hard Choices hits store shelves on June 10.
