Pelosi jokes about awkward video

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) joked about her appearance in a viral video showing the top congressional leaders holding hands and singing “We Shall Overcome” at a Congressional Gold Medal ceremony for Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.

At her weekly press conference on Wednesday, a reporter asked her opinion on the video, which shows Pelosi singing enthusiastically while Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) appeared less than comfortable.

“You mean that I was smiling and singing?” Pelosi asked to laughter.

Asked why the other congressional leaders weren’t smiling too, Pelosi said, “Maybe they were being pulled too tightly, I don’t know.”
