Kennedys have chilling challenge for Obama

President Obama could soon be facing a frosty reception, if he accepts Ethel Kennedy’s challenge to drop a bucket of ice water on his head for charity.

{mosads}Members of the famed political clan were the latest participants to get in on the viral movement over the weekend, writes Boston.com. For the challenge, volunteers videotape themselves getting doused with buckets of ice water to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurodegenerative disease most commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Participants then nominate another person to take the challenge or make a donation to an ALS charity.

In a video posted on Facebook, the Kennedys are seen at the family compound in Hyannis Port, Mass., lined up and dumping the icy cold water on their heads one after the other.

“Welcome to Cape Cod, President Obama,” Ethel Kennedy says in the clip. Obama and his family are staying in Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. for a two-week vacation. “I nominate you,” Kennedy, 86, says, before raising the bucket above her head and soaking herself.

No word on whether the president will accept the freezing cold challenge.
