Church of Scientology to host breakfast for Hill staffers
The Church of Scientology is holding a first-of-its-kind breakfast for congressional staffers, giving workers at the Capitol a chance to check out its Washington digs.
An email obtained by ITK invites House and Senate staffers to “Eat well, tour the historic Fraser Mansion and learn about the church’s humanitarian programs and public policy initiatives” at the Wednesday morning “Recess Breakfast Buffet.” The Dupont Circle mansion serves as the church’s national affairs office.
{mosads}Public Affairs Director Bari Berger told ITK this is the first time the Church of Scientology, which counts Tom Cruise and John Travolta among its members, is having the recess event.
“Of course we work on a lot of different issues on the Hill — we work on human trafficking, veterans’ issues — and we’re in touch with Hill staffers during the year,” Berger said.
“People are familiar with our building,” Berger added, saying the church is giving staffers an opportunity to “come in and learn more about us.”
