Landrieu praises ‘Little Couple’ honored by adoption group
Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) has nothing but praise for Dr. Jen Arnold and Bill Klein, stars of TLC’s “The Little Couple.”
“They are just phenomenal advocates for adoption,” Landrieu said of the pair.
{mosads}Klein and Arnold are parents to two children adopted from India and China, a process they chronicled on their popular television series. Like their parents, the children are both diagnosed with dwarfism.
Klein and Arnold were among the honorees Wednesday night at the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s (CCAI) annual Angels in Adoption gala in downtown Washington. The whole family came to D.C. for the soiree, with the youngsters, Will and Zoey, posing for the cameras.
Landrieu, herself a mother of two, co-chairs the organization’s advisory board.
She said of the reality show stars, “They wanted to adopt and … thought they would give an opportunity for children that had the same challenges that they did.”
Also recognized at the event for their work with adoption were former executive director of CCAI Kathleen Strottman, Jockey International CEO Debra Steigerwaldt Waller and Shonda Rhimes, the creator of “Scandal,” who was unable to attend the event.
